Common Error Messages on the “Add Content – File Entry” page

Entering incorrect dates

 

If a user enters a date incorrectly, one of the following error messages appears when the user clicks “Save” or “Save and Add Another”:

1.  Error saving Data Object: Error listing files: Error populating Files: Conversion failed when converting date and/or time from character string.

 In this example, the date entered has too many digits (12/16/20015):

When the user clicks "Save" or "Save and Add Another" the following message appears:

 2. Error saving Data Object: Error listing files: Error populating Files: The conversion of a varchar data type to a date time data type resulted in an out-of-range value.

 In this example, the user entered an out-of-range date of 01/01/1000:

When the user clicks "Save" or "Save and Add Another" the following message appears:

If you receive either of the above messages, ensure that the data you are entering is correct and retry.

Required field is missing

 

The required fields on the Add Content – File Entry page are:  

  • Juvenile’s First Name
  • Juvenile’s Last Name
  • DOB
  • Race
  • Sex
  • Status
  • Type
  • Sex Related Offense?
  • Date File Entered
  • To (Receiving State or Holding State)
  • From (Sending State or Home/Demanding State), and
  • Case Status

If a user leaves one of these fields blank and clicks “Save” or “Save and Add Another” a message will appear at the top of the page noting which required field is missing:

Could Not Save File due to State Restrictions

 

If a user attempts to edit the File Details page and their state is not the To or From state, the user receives the following message upon clicking “Save” or “Save and Add Another” :

If you entered the wrong state when adding the juvenile file and no longer have access to edit, contact the JIDS Helpdesk to edit the state so you can have access to the file.
